Blogging seems perfect for updates after events and for the essay in the weekly newsletter. Here I can also add photos from the event, too. What better event to start than with some great photos taken by Dr. Maureen Gormley of Gormley Chiropractic during First Lights on December 1, 2007 The Big Red Stocking raffle actually raised more money than we first realized. Flying out of Wanamaker Hardware after picking up the sold raffle tickets, I told Mark that I would be back the following week to collect the money. Then I forgot. Thank goodness John remembered and made sure I got the check. Instead of raising $1,056 for Arlington's Holiday Help Program, we raised $1,258!
Mike Buglio of The Book Rack, a Chamber member and a participant in Shop Arlington First was the lucky Big Red Stocking winner. Here he is with Sarah Robinson of RCN, the event's sponsor. There were so many gifts (valued at more than $3200!) that we couldn't fit them in this photo.
First stop is RCN, First Lights sponsor, where First Lighters could have their caricature drawn and make reindeer puppets, too.
All aboard a bright red trolley for a ride up and down Mass. Ave.

Santa waves hello from Cameras Inc. where lucky kids of any age could have their photos taken with this right jolly old elf.

A stop at Swanson Jewelers to buy a bauble or two and enjoy the open house.

Further up Mass. Ave. a stop at Coyote Impressions brings smiles to everyone.

The Liberty Belles warmed up their voices at the Jefferson Cutter House
before heading to East Arlington.

Santa and I get ready to draw the lucky winner of the Big Red Stocking raffle
on the Town Hall steps.
The Liberty Belles led everyone in a caroling sing along at the First Lights closing ceremony that took place on the steps of Town Hall that frigidly cold evening.
